BICYCLISTS ENJOY SECURE, SAFE BIKE PARKING FOR FREE

DURING TOYOTA GRAND PRIX OF LONG BEACH

(Mar. 3, 2006) Long Beach, Ca.— Bikestation will provide FREE parking with extended hours during Grand Prix weekend giving participants an alternative and fun way to travel to the event.  Strategically located 200 yards from the Yellow Ticket Entrance on First Street and The Promenade, Bikestation provides cyclists a haven for parking and safeguarding their vehicles with convenient connections to and from the Metro Blue Line, Long Beach Transit and other regional bus services, most of which are equipped with bike racks.

Bikestation’s hours of operation during Grand Prix will be from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on April 7, and 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on April 8 and 9. People using their bikes to travel to Grand Prix should map out an easy and safe route prior to the event, as many streets will be closed and some parking facilities will be reserved for patron ticket holders.

Long Beach offers two dedicated bike paths along the Shoreline and Los Angeles River for cyclists that want to take a leisure, scenic route.

In addition to free, attended bicycle parking, Bikestation provides professional repair services, local maps and permits, a retail shop, and refreshments for customers-on-the-go.

Bikestation is located at 221 E. First Street in downtown Long Beach at the intersection of The Promenade between Pine Avenue and Long Beach Boulevard.
