Todd Boulanger, Chairperson
Senior Transportation Planner for the City of Vancouver, Transportation Services. Responsibilities
include: planning and programming for the City's neighborhood traffic calming program; bicycle
and pedestrian facilities design, staff liaison for CDBG transportation projects, on-street parking
and Flexcar - Vancouver; and project administrator for EPA Clean Air Transportation Communities
funded hybrid car and bicycle sharing demonstration project ('GreenFleet').
Awards: Recipient of the Bicycle Transportation Alliance's 2005 Alice B Toeclips award for those in
Oregon and SW Washington whose work has promoted the use of bicycles and increased the
livability of area communities.
John Case,
Co-Founder
John and his wife
Georgia conceived and promoted the idea of starting a nonprofit
alternative transportation movement around bike parking in downtown
Long Beach in 1991. The concept was developed by observing and
reading about successful European and Japanese bike parking models
connected to light rail, bus transit, and downtown urban cores. The
first Bikestation opened in 1996 in Long Beach, CA with funding from
local and federal funds. John was the first Executive Director of
the Bikestation Coalition from 1996 to 1999. John graduated from the
University of Denver and has been involved in various real estate
projects over the years in Southern California and Arizona. John
lives in Long Beach with his wife Georgia and 11 year old son John
Paul. He also sits on the Long Beach Opera Board and enjoys various
sports, arts, and travel.
Amanda
Eichstaedt
Amanda has
served on the Bikestation Board of directors since 1999. Amanda
oversaw the Bikestation Palo Alto project as manager of Palo Alto
Bicycles from 1998 to 1999 and then took a job with the City of Palo
Alto as a Transportation Coordinator where she acted as liaison to
the Bikestation project in Palo Alto. During this time Amanda helped
secure grant funding for upgrades to the Palo Alto project that are
currently underway. Currently Amanda works as a consultant to
various transportation projects while being an innkeeper at a
bicycle friendly Bed and Breakfast (the Bear Valley Inn) in Marin
County near the Point Reyes Peninsula.
Currently
Amanda serves as president of the
League of
American Bicyclists and in the past has served on the following
boards: Association of Pedestrian and Bicycle Professionals,
Association of Commuter Transportation, Northern California Chapter,
Silicon Valley Bicycle Coalition and the Bay Area Bicycle Coalition.
Amanda has served on the Palo Alto Bicycle Advisory Committee, the
Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority Bicycle Advisory
Committee and on the Region Bicycle Plan oversight committee for the
Metropolitan Transportation Commission. In 1999 Amanda was voted
a Clean Air Champion for her work on bicycle promotions by the Bay
Area Air Quality Management District. Amanda accompanied
Bikestation staff and fellow board representatives on a research
tour for Bikestation in Germany and Holland in 2003.
Amanda and her
husband Ken enjoy bicycling, trail running, cooking and gardening
and are teaching their puppy to be a willing passenger in a bicycle
drawn dog crate while they visit the beautiful areas near where they
live.
Duane G. Hickling, Treasurer
Mr. Hickling brings a
strong background in management, strategic planning, asset
management and assessment, operations improvement, and
organizational development. He has extensive experience in
assessing organizations’ performance and leading change. His
management experience includes leading organizations of up to 1,200+
employees and $75 million in annual operating budget. Mr. Hickling
also has a great deal of experience in implementing organizational
monitoring systems for performance reporting and tracking.
Formerly, Mr.
Hickling held positions of Associate Vice President at the
University of Chicago and Assistant Vice Chancellor at the
University of Wisconsin – Madison. His responsibilities included
facilities operations, planning and construction, environmental
health and safety, parking and transportation, capital budget
development, and campus planning. Previously, he was at the
University of Southern California where he was Executive Olympics
Administrator for the 1984 Olympic Games before moving into a
facilities operations role.
Erika Lindemann,
Vice Chair - Secretary
Erika joined the
Bikestation Coalition with over 6 years of experience promoting
sustainable transportation. After graduating from UCSC with a BA in
Environmental Studies, Erika began working for the Santa Cruz County
Regional Transportation Commission’s rideshare agency, Commute
Solutions, where she worked as a commute consultant. In 2001 she
also worked for a small non-profit agency in Santa Cruz, Bike to
Work, and helped implement and oversee a variety of projects aimed
at getting people to try bicycle commuting.
In 2002 Erika
returned to her hometown of Santa Barbara, CA to work for the Santa
Barbara County Association of Governments (SBCAG) Traffic
Solutions. At Traffic Solutions, Erika's responsibilities include
bicycle planning, employer outreach, commute consulting and liaison
to the bicycle community. She is Event Coordinator for Santa
Barbara County's Bike to Work project, which includes the headlining
event, the Team Bike Challenge. She is also a League of American
Bicyclists Cycling Instructor and enjoys teaching bicycle street
skills to adults and children. Erika serves on several nonprofit
boards including the Santa Barbara Mountain Bike Trail Volunteers
and as an advisor to the Santa Barbara Bicycle Coalition. She is
also active with Leadership Santa Barbara County. Erika enjoys most
sports including bicycling, hiking, snowboarding, surfing and
swimming. She also loves traveling and learning foreign languages.
Robert Petering
Robert is a
retired labor relations attorney. He has been on the Bikestation
Coalition board since 1998. His legal knowledge, common sense, wit,
and house in Truckee, CA have been invaluable assets to the
Bikestation movement over the years. Robert grew up in St. Louis. He
attended the University of Kansas as well as Western law school in
San Diego. Robert also volunteers to the Air and Space Museum in San
Diego and the Scripts Aquarium in La Jolla, CA. He is an avid Scuba
diver, bicyclist, and swimmer. He is married to his wife Jane and
has two children, Robin and Brad.
Michael Replogle

Michael Replogle manages Environmental Defense's initiatives to link
transportation, land use, and natural resource plans and programs to
enhance public health, equity and environmental quality. He is an
expert on federal transportation law and policy, transportation
impact analysis, and strategies to reduce traffic and pollution
through incentives, smart growth, marketing and improved
accountability. He works with federal and state agencies, Congress,
local officials, business and activists to promote reform. He has
worked extensively in metropolitan Washington/Baltimore, New York,
Atlanta, Denver, Portland, Oregon and other regions. His work in
Atlanta helped redirect $300 million from sprawl-inducing roads to
transit and safety projects.
As a civil engineer and transportation modeling expert, he has
served as an expert witness in several major environmental and
transportation law cases. He conceived and helped win a 50% Maryland
tax credit for employer-provided transit and cash-in-lieu-of-parking
benefits. He produced three award-winning television ads encouraging
employees to ask their employer for these benefits.
Treasurer (1990-present) and a co-founder of Clean Air and
Transportation, which educates the public about how transportation
choices affect the environment. Co-founder and president
(1984-present) of the Institute for Transportation and Development
Policy, which promotes sustainable transportation reforms in
developing and newly industrialized economies. Author of numerous
reports and articles on transportation strategies in Europe, Asia
and the United States.
Consultant, U.S. Federal Highway Administration and the World Bank
on non-motorized transportation, planning methods, and sustainable
transportation strategies (1992); transportation coordinator,
Montgomery County (MD) Planning Department (1983-1992);
transportation research associate, Public Technology, Inc.,
technical arm of US National League of Cities, Washington, DC
(1979-1982).
